Sheriff Bobby Whittington was appointed to the Council on Law Enforcement and Training (CLEET) on Aug 3.

CLEET is a government law enforcement agency that supports the state, county and local law enforcement agencies by providing training and education. The council is comprised of 13 members.

CLEET establishes guidelines and conducts basic training for all full time and reserve peace officers in the state, as well as providing continuing education for officers.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to represent small departments,” Whittington said. “I get to make sure our voices are heard on issues of training and unfunded mandates that the state may put on us.”

Very few Sheriff’s Departments have more than three deputies across the state and most Police Departments have less than five officers. Sheriff Whittington will represent these smaller agencies.
