Karen Caldwell, owner of KC’s Gift Store, held an Artfully Fun Class at 6 p.m. on July 10 at 114 S. Main St. in Frederick.
Caldwell said the classes used to be monthly, but now they’re bimonthly.
In this week’s class, the students painted cacti.
People have come from as far away as Wichita Falls to attend the art classes held by Caldwell. One of those people was Sam Trevino, who attended because her boyfriend’s mom, Dawn Latour, tagged her in a Facebook post about the event.
“She tagged me in a post on Facebook,” Trevino said. “We’d done the flag that she did two weeks ago and it was so much fun, and she’s so nice, and Dawn was like let’s do it again!”
Trevino said they will definitely be back for other classes with Caldwell.
Although Caldwell displayed the cactus she had painted as a reference for what the students would be painting, they were free to paint their own type of cactus.
“There are no rules to art,” Caldwell said.
Caldwell’s next class is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 24 at KC’s Gift Store, 114 S. Main St. in Frederick. The theme is a sunflower. The cost is $35 per student and includes all supplies needed.
