The Tillman County Local Emergency Planning Committee met in a regular session at 10 a.m. July 11 at the Tillman County Health Department, 1500 N. Main St. in Frederick.
Chairman Gail Gordon called the meeting to order and the minutes from the April 18 meeting were read and approved.
Gordon asked Treasurer Melissa Huff to give her report.
“Well, we don’t have any funds yet, but we’re working on that,” Huff said.
When the laughter died down, Tillman County Emergency Management Director Randy Hasley began his report on the Department of Environmental Quality grant. He said the application has been sent in.
“How long does it normally take for the funds to come in?” Hasley asked.
Jackson County Emergency Management Director Wayne Cain replied that it is usually sent out fairly quickly.
“That’s good,” Hasley said, “then Melissa will have some responsibility.”
Emergency Management Apprentice Mary Jo Fink gave a report on how the Air Force works with local emergency management to respond to disasters.
Quarterly meetings were set for the next year.
The meeting was adjourned.
The Tillman County Local Emergency Planning Committee is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Tillman County Health Department, 1500 N. Main St. in Frederick.
