TILLMAN COUNTY – This holiday season, Oklahomans can double the impact of their gift and feed twice as many Oklahomans living with hunger. Thanks to a generous Holiday Match from APMEX.com, the Cresap Family Foundation and Chesapeake Energy Corporation, every gift received from Nov. 15 through Jan.15 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $600,000, for a total impact of $1.2 million.
“We are excited to again partner with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to help support the Holiday Match effort because at APMEX, giving back is a core value of ours that we take very seriously,” said Scott Thomas, president and founder of leading online precious metals retailer APMEX.com. “Because your dollar will go further during this campaign, more Oklahomans that need help to provide food for their families will get it and saying we had a helping hand in that is something we can all be proud of.”
Normally, every $1 donated to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma will provide five meals – enough to feed a family. Thanks to the Holiday Match, every $1 donated up to $600,000 will provide 10 meals – enough to feed two families.
“Your support can make a huge difference to families who struggle to keep food on the table,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “No one should go hungry in Oklahoma — especially during the holidays. Thanks to the generous Holiday Match donors, your donation will go twice as far. Join us in making the holidays season a little brighter for our Oklahoma neighbors.”
Donations raised through the Holiday Match will provide food for Oklahomans in 53 central and western counties. In Tillman County, the Regional Food Bank partners with the Frederick Food Pantry year-round to fight hunger.
One in six Oklahomans has inconsistent access to food. The majority of Oklahomans served by the Regional Food Bank are chronically hungry children, seniors living on limited incomes and hardworking families struggling to make ends meet. This includes families like David’s, who turns to the Regional Food Bank for support.
“Thank you for helping to put food on our table at the end of the month,” he said. “To those of us on a limited income, it’s a lot of help. Thank you so, so much.”
