Fatal episodes of VFib require an AICD implant

Body
DEAR DR. ROACH: I’m an 88-year-old female who has been diagnosed with ventricular fibrillation (VFib). My cardiac electrophysiologist, who implanted a conventional pacemaker four years ago, has noticed several episodes of VFib (up to 30 seconds, read via a bedside monitor). They recommend replacing the current pacemaker with a combo pacemaker and defibrillator. I wonder about the history/success of this device. -- C.R.

They talked about the program, the types of projects they work on, and what they plan to do in their futures. Fritts is a graduate of the multimedia program at the Lawton GPTC and Cameron University so she knows firsthand what her students are learning and how to better teach them.

December is “Operation Santa Paws” month

Body
Celebrate “Operation Santa Paws” Dec. 1 – 24. “Operation Santa Paws” encourages anyone who loves animals to think about donating to their local shelters. Whether that’s a monetary donation, a bag of food, a blanket, or even your time to play with, read to, or walk shelter animals – shelters are in need. The winter months are especially hard on shelters. With colder weather, the needs of the animals increase.
