A local man was arrested on first degree murder charges.
On Monday, March 29, 2021, officers with the Frederick Police Department were dispatched to a residence on S. 14th Street. According to court documents, officers found Michael Milks [sic] dead in the driveway from an apparent gunshot wound.
When officers arrived, they found the suspect Dustin Abrams, who allegedly confessed to the shooting. Officers placed Abrams under arrest. The affidavit states that Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Joe Kimmons read Abrams his Miranda rights before interviewing him at the Frederick Police Department.
According to the affidavit, Abrams allegedly said Milks showed up at the residence on S. 14th Street and approached him while he was sitting on the porch and he saw Milks pull out a gun. Abrams allegedly stated that he disarmed Milks before shooting him one time in the chest. Abram then allegedly said he unloaded the magazine from the gun and laid the gun on the ground before running across the street where he asked a neighbor to call 911.
However, in corroborated testimony from two sources, it was discovered that one of the sources drove Abrams to another residence on 14th Street where he obtained a gun from the resident of that property earlier on the day of the shooting. The source then allegedly drove Abrams to the eventual crime scene and left him there.
The affidavit also states that through the course of the investigation so far, it was discovered that Abrams had allegedly been accusing Milks of being a pedophile and threatening to kill him in the days leading up to and the day of the shooting.
