Geary McCormack is running for the at large seat on Frederick City Council. He grew up in Frederick and graduated from Frederick High School in 1982.

McCormack is the oldest son of Keith and Jeanne McCormack. McCormack said over the last 30 plus years of visiting Frederick, he saw a steady decline.

“I have seen a steady and disappointing decline of my hometown,” McCormack said. “ My wife and I moved back to Frederick a year ago to make Frederick our hometown once again. Since coming home I made the decision to get involved in any way possible to help make Frederick a better place to live. I think all of us here need to find ways of making Frederick more appealing so more people want to move and lived here.

“I look forward to working with all the current council members and city manager to Aid in finding ways of improving Frederick as a whole,” he continued. “I have spent most of my adult life in electrical sales. Over the past 30 years I have had many opportunities to work with companies both large and small, also working with many cities Statewide. A lot of my time for them is spent at helping them find cost-effective ways of updating their electrical needs. I think this experience will Aid me and helping to city with new ideas, and ways to revitalize the city.”

McCormack says the role of a city councilman is to find ways to promote the city.

“We have to find ways of improving our infrastructure as a whole,” he said. “We all have to work together in doing this and remember why we are here. Our first concern has to be the city as a whole. We must ask ourselves how to Aid and contribute to the growth and revitalization of the city of Frederick.”

McCormack said Frederick has a wonderful school system.

“After moving back we were amazed with the public schools,” McCormack said. “ our school system is our shining star. I have met some amazing people who had been involved in this effort. Frederick elementary being a blue ribbon school is no minor accomplishment. This is something we should all be proud of and let everyone know. Our school system is something that we have and we can build on.”

McCormack said there are a lot of hard questions to be asked.

“We must always keep Frederick growing, and I have no doubt that it can be done,” he said. “There are a lot of great people who are willing to help in any way they can. I look forward to the opportunity of serving the city of Frederick and would like everyone to get out and vote.”

The Election is April 6, 2021.
