The Frederick School Enrichment Foundation has announced that applications for the Lorene Wessel Scholarship for 2023 graduates of Frederick High School are now available at the high school counselor’s office.

Midwestern State University recognized 1,040 honor students for the Fall 2023 semester. The President’s Honor Roll included 400 students, the Provost’s Honor Roll included 297 students and the Dean’s Honor Roll included 343 students.

Frederick Elementary School, named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2020, received a B on this year’s State Report Card. The one thing keeping them from receiving an A? Chronic absenteeism.

Louis and Auguste Lumiere are French brothers who invented a cameraprojector they called the Cinematographe. In 1890, Thomas Edison and his assistant William Dickson developed the first motion-picture camera, called the Kinetograph, a machine with a peephole viewer that allowed one person to watch a strip of film as it moved past a light.

Through a grant awarded to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences from the United States Department of Agiculture (USDA), experts at OU Health can now expand life-saving technology and expertise to rural hospitals in the state, where life expectancy is lower, and residents face an increased risk of death from stroke.

State Representative Anthony Moore has been named to the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) Presidential Order of Merit. Moore, who resides in Clinton with his family, represents District 57 (which includes SWOSU’s main campus at Weatherford) in the Oklahoma House of Representatives where he serves as Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education & Career Technology Education.

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: This Christmas, we planned to get a puppy, but it is too young to leave its mother yet. Instead of revealing the puppy on Christmas Day, we wrapped a big box that had a little note in it from Santa saying that a new puppy will arrive soon, and to write down their ideas for a name on the back of the card.
