Last Friday night, round one of the Oklahoma Class 2A playoffs pitted the district 3, 4th place Frederick Bombers, against the district 4, 1st place Kingston Redskins. If that sort of match up seems unsurpassable, remember this time last year when the Bombers, 4th place in their district, took on the Davis Wolves, 1st place in their respective district, in their own den and overcame the odds to beat Davis. Bombers had the same plan in mind for the Redskins as they traveled to Kingston.

The Frederick Bombers football squad secured a spot in the post season last Friday on Senior Night at Bomber Bowl. Fans were treated to a defensive low scoring affair. The contest between Frederick and the Community Christian Royals (Norman, OK), was weighty to say the least. The final playoff spot in the district loomed in the balance. Whichever team won, punched their ticket to the playoffs and the losing team’s season was over.

Mid-October “football weather” would bring up images of coats, hats, gloves, blankets, and hot chocolate or coffee in the thermos. At Bomber Bowl last Friday, the weather was fair and temperature in the mid 70’s.
