The Frederick Bombers football squad secured a spot in the post season last Friday on Senior Night at Bomber Bowl. Fans were treated to a defensive low scoring affair. The contest between Frederick and the Community Christian Royals (Norman, OK), was weighty to say the least. The final playoff spot in the district loomed in the balance. Whichever team won, punched their ticket to the playoffs and the losing team’s season was over.
Mid-October “football weather” would bring up images of coats, hats, gloves, blankets, and hot chocolate or coffee in the thermos. At Bomber Bowl last Friday, the weather was fair and temperature in the mid 70’s.
Fall break made for a Thursday night game against the Indians at Comanche, always a hostile environment. Frederick struck for a couple of touchdowns, one in the 1st quarter and one in the 2nd. The first score was a 9-yard run after a Bomber drive on a short field. Point after attempt no good.
