Darwin “Doc” Ray Jones was born on June 30, 1938, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Calvin and Pauline (Logan) Jones.

He first attended school in Crowley, Texas, and moved to Frederick, Oklahoma when he was 16. He graduated from Frederick High School. He was united in marriage to Dora Jo Stevens on October

11, 1958, in Frederick. They were happily married for 62 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ for many years.

Doc was known for his passion for perfection which included dirt work for his customers who were more like friends. His drive, attention to details, and reputation earned him his nickname the “Dirt Doctor”. Doc’s passion for perfection was also apparent in his hobbies of fast cars and horsepower! Doc was one of the oldest card holders for Oklahoma Drag Racers, he was an avid racer until he was 70 years old. To Doc, he seemingly never “worked” a day in his life because he loved what he did so much.

Jones Dozer was founded in 1950 by his father Calvin, Doc began working for him at age 17. When he was 34, he became owner/operator and truck driver for Jones Construction from 1972-1987.

Doc took over Jones Dozer in 1988 and ran it very successfully for many years. Overall, he worked with bulldozers for 68 years. When he wasn’t on a bulldozer or out playing in the dirt you could find him with his family, tinkering with his truck or race car, or watching Westerns on TV. Of all the accomplishments, successful hobbies, and mentoring he did throughout his long life, Doc’s family was always his priority! Doc loved to have his family around. Holidays and family gatherings were always his favorite times and he made sure his family was taken care of.

He is survived by his brother, Greg Jones of Frederick, Oklahoma; daughter, Dana Brown and husband Neil of Edmond, Oklahoma; son Dusty Jones and wife Rosalia of Frederick, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Brooke Fuser and husband Colby of Monkey Island, Oklahoma, Jaci Russell and husband Joe Van of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Candice Sheffield and husband Kenny of Wichita Falls, Texas; eleven greatgrandchildren, Adison and Asher Fuser, Ryder, Aspen, and Boston Russell, Tyson, Tatum, Rayce, Rylan, Ryver, and Calais Sheffield; and one great-great-grandson, Riggin Sheffield.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Pauline Jones, his wife, Dora Jones, daughter, Darla Raylene Jones, brother, Jim Jones and his wife Judy, and sister-in-law, Pam Jones.

Memorial donations may be to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a charity that was dear to Doc because of their work with children with cancer.
